Cruise in for Cars and Coffee

Two things that lure folks outside on a Sunday morning are gorgeous automobiles and freshly brewed coffee. Jeff Swain, organizer of Cars and Coffee at J Club, knows this better than most. He started the event in late 2022, and it has grown in popularity throughout the Quad Cities.

Jeff was well prepared to launch the Cars and Coffee series after moving to Jasper, thanks to his experience organizing similar events in other communities. His passion for cars began in childhood and eventually led him toward professional work in the automotive industry as an engineer and project manager.

Beyond Jasper, Jeff attends a variety of car shows and visits automotive museums around the world. He says the friendly, relaxed and inclusive atmosphere at J Club’s Cars and Coffee makes it stand out. The event helps Jasper residents connect with fellow Prescott-area locals, sparking interest in J Club and the neighborhood around it.

According to Jeff, the event is impactful for community life because, “Cars are an art form, and sharing our moveable sculptures in a positive way makes our community broader and more robust.”

Cars and Coffee is held the first Sunday of every month from 8 to 10 a.m., and it’s easy to drive up a car and join the conversation. You can expect to see an array of vehicles, from hot rods, classics and sleek sports cars to tricked-out pickup trucks and motorcycles. There have even been sightings of a custom long-bed crew-cab dually hot rod pickup on the same day as a 1959 VW Beetle.

Whether you own a head-turning ride or simply relish admiring one-of-a-kind masterpieces, you’re welcome to come bask in the horsepower with fellow enthusiasts. Don’t consider yourself a car person? Come for the coffee and company — maybe you’ll see an engine that revs up a new interest.
