Jasper Leadership members are passionate about making a difference. Learn how this group of diverse, yet like-minded, individuals are connecting to build a stronger community.
What is Jasper Leadership?
Jasper Leadership is an enriching program designed to cultivate community leaders through service, collaboration, and accountability. Participants engage in monthly meetings to develop skills, interact with community leaders and key partners, and explore what it means to be a leader in the community.
The program is more than a learning experience or training — it’s a chance to grow and develop leadership skills to contribute to the betterment of the greater community.
Leading by example
One of the objectives for each class is to complete a service project. The class is broken into small groups who are tasked with identifying a need within the community, then initiating a plan to help.
Here’s the project class members are working on. Any help and support is appreciated.
Friends with Furniture
This initiative aims to connect individuals with gently used — and no longer needed — furniture to churches, nonprofits, and individuals in need.
How can you help?
- Spread the word about their Facebook page @friendswithfurniture.
- Encourage friends to use Friends with Furniture to donate.
- Contact the group for additional information: friendswithfurniture@gmail.com.
Jasper Leadership + Pedal Forward
Focused on supporting the Pedal Forward organization, this group is organizing a donation and fundraising event. They’re collecting new and gently used bikes and funds for safety gear and accessories to gift individuals in the community at Christmas.
How can you help?
- Drop off a new or gently used bike for youth ages 8 to 18. Contact info@pedalforwardinc.org to arrange your drop off.
- Visit their website, pedalforwardinc.org, to make a monetary donation.
Neighbors Helping Neighbors
This group connects with local businesses and nonprofits to understand their needs and support their efforts. The group’s goal is to foster a network of mutual aid within the community by identifying local resources for collaboration as well as continuous information sharing to add to what is already established.
How can you help?
Just like the title, the success of this project hinges on increasing awareness and neighbors sharing resources among neighbors. Bookmark these pages, utilize yourself and share!
